Funeral rites will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington for Neil Kilby, 82, retired Covington area farmer, who died Friday at Kennedy Hospital at Lake Worth, Fla. He had been seriously ill one week. Rev. George F. Beatty will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Mr. Kilby had been a resident of the Covington area most of his life and was a Troy Township farmer. He had resided in Lantana, Fla., the last 18 years where he was a home builder. His marriage Feb 15, 1912, was to Lena May Harmon, who died June 22, 1957. A native of Coal Creek, Tenn., he was born Feb 19, 1889, the son of William and Mary Chadwell Kilby. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Brown of Lantana; four sons, Edgar of Indianapolis, Harmon of Atlanta, Fla., Frank of Indianapolis and Arthur of Lantana; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and eight brothers.

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Covington, Ind.-Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Thursday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home for Neil Kilby, 82, of Lantana, Fla., a former Covington area resident. He died at 10:20 p.m. Friday (Dec. 24, 1971) at Kennedy Hospital in Lake Worth, Fla. He had been seriously ill a week. The Rev. George F. Beatty will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Kilby was born Feb. 19, 1889, at Coal Creek, Tenn., the son of William and Mary Chadwell Kilby. On Feb. 15, 1912 he married Lena May Harmon, who died June 22, 1957. A farmer east of Covington most of his life, he had resided in Lantana for the past 18 years. He was a homebuilder. Survivors include four sons, Edgar and Frank, both of Indianapolis, Harmon of Atlantis, Fla., and Arthur of Lantana; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Brown of Lantana; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
